Rylov Arkady Alexandrovich (1870-1939)

In the history of Russian painting AA Rilov came primarily as the author of two renowned landscapes - "Green Noise" and "In Blue Space", although left a great legacy and a very high artistic level.

Born Rilov in the way, when his parents went to Vyatka. This city, where the future artist grew up, the natural environment, his childhood spent Rilov beautiful pages of memories.

In 1888 he came to St. Petersburg and on the advice of family members enrolled in TSUTR. Same time he was at the Drawing School of the OPH. In the midst of insistent work Rylova unexpectedly called to the army. Having served on time, he returned to St. Petersburg.

In 1893 he entered the Academy of Arts Rilov, and a year later he was invited to his studio A. Kuindzhi , training which has long been a cherished dream of the young artist. Rylova in the full sense of the word can be regarded as a disciple and follower of Kuindzhi. They are remarkably similar in nature of artistic talent. Rilov always retained affection for romantic upbeat and generalizing, holistic images, lighting effects, decorative understanding of color, but at the same time closely followed the covenant of teachers as much as possible to work on location. "Kuindzhievskoy" - a romantic, vibrant, with polyhaniem night fire - was Rylova graduation painting "The Tatars passed over evil" (1897). The artist was annoyed then, why he went to such a "crackling" plot and did not take a "modest Russian landscape, a familiar nature"?

By the beginning of 1900. skill Rylova reached maturity. In 1904 appeared "Green Noise". The artist worked on the painting two years, he wrote it in the studio, using the experience of observing nature and a lot of studies made in the vicinity of Vyatka and St. Petersburg. Contemporaries were struck by a young, happy feeling that permeated the landscape. This image of the eternally triumphant, ever-changing life, when one moment quickly replaced by another, and they are all equally beautiful. The coloring is based on a combination of saturated color relationships. Dynamic spatial solution - is strongly opposed to the approximate front-end and an opening for him immeasurable distances.

The same happy feeling and a similar spatial construction - in the film "In the Blue Space" (1918). Pictured windy spring morning over the waves the sea, streams of golden rays of the rising sun, flying home white swans, the land remains with the snow coming down and easy sailing vessel, aspiring towards the sunlight. This complete faith in the power of life after the image was used for ideological purposes.

Announced the first picture of the Soviet landscape, and Rylova - the founder of the Soviet landscape painting. But were he and landscapes with different mood - for example, "Wilderness" (1920). Swamp with black water fills the foreground, and behind it - a dark, disturbing the forest. However, life-affirming works from the artist a lot more, "Hot Day," "Field pockmark", "Island" (all 1922), "Birch Grove" (1923), "Old eaten by the River" (1925), "Forest River" ( 1928), "The House with the red roof" (1933), "In the green banks" (1938), etc.

Rilov had another rare gift - teaching. Before the revolution, he was "drawing class of animals" at the Drawing School of the OPH, and after 1917 he taught at the Academy of Arts. His advice and guidance appreciated not only students, but also some eminent artists. Equally appreciated his rare spiritual purity and love for people. He always loved the entire living world, and the world was paying him the same. He was loved by birds and animals, and the manifestations of that love and trust of others were amazing. In his workshop he organized corner of the forest. Here lived without a cage birds - robins, wrens, kinglets, nuthatches, gull, snipe-snipe ... He bought them on the market or picked up somewhere, sick and feeble, nursed, nursed, and in the spring let loose. Here were two anthill. We were still living Rylova hares, squirrels, monkey Manka and other animals. Not afraid of him, and many shy animals and birds without fear came and flew to his summer forest workshop. "RYLOV nature is released very, very sparingly," - said one of the artist Mikhail Nesterov after the sad news of his death.
