Mokritsky Apollon (1810-1870)

Being one of the closest disciples of KP Bryullova and do not write beautiful paintings seem to be impossible. That's the beauty of the Italian style distinguishes most of the paintings of the painter, with proper artistic prowess at AG Venetsianov (1832) and the Academy of Arts "Charles the Great" (1836-1839).

By the end of the Academy of Apollo Mokritsky - skilled portraitist, who gets a lot of orders, not just earning a living, but on a trip to Italy (1841-1849). His Italian portraits and landscapes willingly sold out, becoming eventually welcome exhibits many museums in Russia.

On his return from Italy A. Mokritsky wrote "Portrait of Bishop Nicanor, Metropolitan of Novgorod and St. Petersburg" (1849), for which received the title of Academician.

Since 1851, the artist works as a teacher at the Moscow School of Painting and Sculpture. His teaching activities entirely successful. His students - VG Perov , II Shishkin , IM Prianishnikov - became the first Russian painters. His course aesthetics, read in two schools of Moscow (painting and sculpture and the Stroganov), is visited by many artists and fans. Finally, his diaries and memoirs of A. Venetsianov and his school of K. Briullov and still are of exceptional interest.
