Rostislav Barto
(1902-1974)

Barto RN Born in Moscow in 1902 after graduating from the Moscow real school in 1922 goes to the graphics department of the Moscow Art Workshops, where he engaged in classes V.Favorsky , I.Nivinskogo and P.Pavlinova. In 1926 he transferred to the painting department in class A. Shevchenko and in 1929 completed his education. As a student Barto takes art association "Painters' Workshop" and participates in group exhibitions. In 1929, Barto admitted to the OST and participates in many international exhibitions in Stockholm, Berlin, Vienna, where most of his works are purchased by museums and collectors.

Since the end of 1929 became interested in the new field experiments - monotype, interesting possibilities which he opened A.V.Shevchenko . And so excelled in artistry of performance that fifteen sheets came early in gravure office of the Museum of Fine Arts. In the late 20's. he and A.Shevchenko travels in the Caucasus, where he took a naive and primitive mechanics of composite symbolic meaning of Oriental art, which will be reflected in his paintings. On impressions - dozens of oil paintings, tempera, monotypes.

In the 1930-1933 years. - The peak of success: more than forty times participated in exhibitions, of which about thirty - abroad.

In 1933, the Museum of Fine Arts produced the first solo exhibition, but after sharp criticism (for "formalism") and it was closed until 1938 Barto participates in international exhibitions in Europe, America and China.

Barto In 1974 he passed away.
In 1978 there was a personal (unfortunately, posthumous) exhibition at the Exhibition Hall of the shot. While alive he took part in the exhibition of 101 (mostly abroad).
