Alexander Makovsky (1869-1924)
Makovsky Alexander was born to a prominent Russian artist V. Makovsky (1846-1920 gg.) , nephew of the painters of Constantine , Nicholas , Alexandra Makovsky , a grandson of Yegor Makovsky. Original art education in the family under the guidance of his father. In 1884 he entered the MUZhViZ, studying with I.M.Pryanishnikova , VDPolenov , VE Makovsky . In 1888 was awarded two small silver medals. In 1889, for the painting "Art lovers" was awarded the large silver medal and was released from school. In 1891-1893 he lived in Paris, studied at the School of Cormon's studio. He graduated from the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1889), studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (1894-1895., Master Ilya Repin ). From 1897 he taught at the Higher Art and teaching courses at the Imperial Academy of Arts, was chairman of the competition committee to review the drawings of students in secondary schools. He painted landscapes, portraits, genre scenes. In 1887-1890 has visited Crimea. In 1886 he participated in exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Arts (up to 1900, with interruptions), the Society of Russian watercolors (1897). Many traveled to Russia. Almost every year went to work in Pskov, Novgorod, on the Volga River. In 1910 he toured the Kama, and in 1912 went to North Russia, visited Vologda, Ferapontov and Cyril-Belozersky monastery, Arkhangelsk and Solovki. In 1911-1913 visited Italy and Germany. In 1911 he was elected an academician. In the same year he exhibited his paintings at the World Exhibition in Rome. In 1912 he took part in the IV International Congress in Dresden on teaching drawing and crafts. In the 1910-1917 years. made several trips to the north of the province of Perm. Wrote a series of landscapes featuring rivers and Colva Vishery, historic cities and settlements Verkhnekamye: Solikamsk, p. Redikor, pos. Nyrob, p. Monastery. On the 39th exhibition TPHV presented 24 works Verkhnekamskoye cycle (1911), a 40-43rd exhibitions - 6 works (1912-1915)., Exhibitions, sketches and drawings in 1914 - 4 work, 1916 - 2 works in the 45th exhibition TPHV - 1 job. In 1919 he participated in the First State Free Exhibition of Works of Art in Petrograd. He worked in landscapes, portraits, genre painting. He played a follower of Vladimir Makovsky and traditions of the Wanderers. However, unlike his father, he did not focus accusatory tone and sought to display everyday, ordinary life in all its manifestations. For works of Alexander Makovsky characteristic crisp, confident, though somewhat "dry" design, the limited range of colors, the attention to detail. His works are in private and museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Scientific Research Museum of Arts and others. Paintings by A. Makovsky, "Colva River" and "The River of Colva. Stone Fighter "(1910) are in the collection of the Perm State Art Gallery.
