Kozlov Ignatievich Gabriel (1738-1791)

But even against this background that looks unique decision by the Council of the Academy of appointment to the post of Associate Professor Gabriel Ignatievitch Kozlova, which contained a condition that the artist will be able to take this position only if released from serfdom.

It must be said that the academy was against Kozlova consistent - she bought it in 1763. Two years later, GI Kozlov became an academician, and later a professor.

Unfortunately, the original creations of the artist to the present time little is preserved. It is clear that we have not reached his artistic decoration of the court theater. Only the painting "The Apostle Peter denies Christ," and a few ink drawings may indicate a high potential for visual wizard. Was GI Goats and a great teacher - among his twelve disciples of future academics. And is this not a huge contribution to the development of Russian art.
