Budogosky Edward A.
(1903-1976)

Son of an officer, he studied at Warsaw, and later at the Moscow Cadet Corps.

EA Budogosky first drawing skills got in Feodosia in the country of his uncle on the beach. Then he studied at the Petrograd at the Drawing School of the OPH and the Faculty of Arts on the graphic, then Vhuteina (1922-26).

After graduating, he worked until 1934 in the department of children and young people's literature publishing house of the State, where under the direction of VV Lebedev completed his professional development.

 The best thing that has made Budogosky - is illustrations for books, mainly for children, "Dam" Bergolts, "Herring" N. Keskla, "Notes of an American student" T.-B. Aldrich, "Likhova" D. Levin, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer ra" Mark Twain, "Great Expectations," Charles Dickens.

 All of them, except for book illustrations LA Budogoskoy (the sister of the artist) "The Story of the lamp" and "The Story of a redheaded girl," were executed in woodcut.
 Budogosky - one of the greatest masters of engraving 1930., who had its own unique style, which originally reflected the influence of "naïve" art. Lyricism, tenderness and innocence give a rare charm of his interpretations of literary works.

 The outbreak of war in 1941, found the artist in Leningrad, where he spent the entire siege, then fought in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Austria.
In 1954, the artist's love forced to move to Moscow, he had a son, Budogosky designed several books, but mostly engaged industrial graphics.
