Veil Jean Louis (1744 - ~ 1803)

Frenchman Jean-Louis veil (~ 1744 - ~ 1803), which became in 1780 the court painter of small courtyard (the future Emperor Paul I).

Known for his portraits of Paul Petrovich, Maria Feodorovna and their children, Russian nobility. In 1793, after the revolution in France, all the artists were asked to sign the decree of Catherine II's abdication of his country or to travel outside Russia. Veil chose to go to France, but, for lack of work, after Catherine's death he returned to Russia. He worked in a low-key, a noble manner.
