Vasiliev Mikhail Nikolayevich (1830-1900)

Art education at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, and the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Having completed the course in the final with a large gold medal, he was sent abroad as a pensioner of the Academy. From the works of M.Vasileva deserve special attention: the figures are 14 prophets, and among them sits the Virgin, painted encaustic, a Russian embassy church in Paris, wall painting, encaustic, too, in the Nikolaev church cemetery in Sevastopol, nine small iconostasis of images in the same the church, "Mary Christmas" in Zhytomyr cathedral, religious paintings, and ten in the Riga Cathedral.
