Gregory Silovich Ostrovsky (1756-1814)

Russian portrait painter of the XVIII century.
 Ustiug commoner, the son of a priest. Painted a number of churches in the Grand Ustjug, but at a local shop painters did not belong.
Neronovo worked in the estate owned by the family Cherevin, about 25 km south-east of Soligalich.

 Discovered and identified 17 portraits. All of them depict Cherevin family members, relatives and neighbors, such as Lermontov nobles who lived near Neronovo in the mansion Surovceva.
 All known portraits were renovated in 1970. in Moscow and returned to Soligalich where and stored in a local museum.

 The artist was also probably well acquainted with the work of the Moscow portrait painter F. Rokotov .
