Barizen Friedrich Hartmann (1724-1796)
FG Barizen was one of many foreign artists who came to Russia in the middle of the XVIII century. Like his countrymen, he worked as a master of theatrical scenery, wrote decorative panels and ceiling, and turned to the genre of portraiture. Painter Barizen virtually unknown in Russia, his work has been little studied, and works - are scarce. In 1756, he arrived in St. Petersburg at the invitation of the Grand Duke Peter Fedorovich (patronage has had one of the Saxon merchants), and received a commission to write a kind of suburban royal palaces - Tsarskoye Selo, Peterhof and Oranienbaum. In his paper of Barizen applied the lessons to them while studying in Dresden painting techniques - a smooth, somewhat dry manner characteristic color.
